The Cheyenne Invitational volleyball tournament starts Friday. This is Wheatland’s first trip to the Cheyenne Invite since the round-robin event was brought back a handful of years ago.
The Squaw Mountain fire has burned nearly 6,000 acres 15 miles southwest of Wheatland. Until the wind shifted late Monday night, Wheatland football coach Scott Schultz was making contingency plans should the air quality get so bad the Bulldogs couldn’t practice outside.
“The wind started blowing everything south, so we had practice as normal,” Schultz said Tuesday night.
Until the wind changed, Schultz planned to take his team into the gym after Wheatland’s volleyball team finished practice.
